Happy International Knitting in Public day! In celebration, the Dread Pirate Knitbeard hauled her haversack of yarrrrrn over to the C-U Farmer's Market, where there were wonderful folk from Klose Knit in abundance. :D

I finished the increases on the back of the Isabella tank this morning, and I'm hoping to bang out the rest of the back this weekend. This whole being unemployed business is good for nobody but the recipients of my knitted items, as I have near-constant knitting time now (when I'm not looking for jobs, of course.)

Next on the docket: My brother's long-promised Christmas socks. (Christmas in July, perhaps?) I'd been thinking about Knitty's Diamond Waffle Socks. My brother's a recent construction engineering grad, and he needs things that will be warm and snuggly under boots. I have some Happy Feet in a very studly grey-green that I think he'll like-- my brother's sensitive to texture and likes soft clothing. I may look for a pattern in reverse stockinette so he'll get the smooth side on the inside. Anyone have any suggestions?

Arrr. I just remembered this blog was here, so I'm going to do my best to update it again.

So what am I working on? Right now, it's a Celtic knotwork dice bag done in two beautiful colors of luscious Malabrigo Silky Merino. I LOOOOOVE this yarn. Seriously. I could eat it.

I'm using the chart from Catherine Devine's Long Spiral Socks for the body of the bag and improvising a decrease at the bottom. After I finish this up, I may actually FINISH my 2006 Knitting Olympics project. Now that the 2008 Olympics is over. Yes.

So, Day 2 and I was happily knitting away on my unstriped version of MagKnits's Sesame when I realized that I wouldn't have enough of the burgundy Lana D'Oro I'm using to finish it all. Luckily, when I hopped on EBay I found four balls on sale in a lovely chocolate brown, so I'm going to stripe the body and leave the sleeves solid.

Speaking of those sleeves... (Day 2 Progress and a question) )

I came late to the Knitting Olympics (just heard about it yesterday) and decided it would be the perfect opportunity to finish the Paton's Katrina peplum cardigan I've been promising my mom for just about ever. Imagine my dismay when, just before the march of nations and post-swatching, I discovered that the pattern was nowhere to be found! I had, shortsightedly, left it home when I moved up to school. *sigh* So I changed projects. I've had some Lana D'Oro that I've been meaning to use on a sweater for myself, and I'm making it into something akin to MagKnits's Sesame (but with no stripes and smaller buttons.

Good luck, knitters! (And didn't Luciano just make you cry?)
